Alan Snow is am amazing author! When my son was young he was intimidated by chapter books. I bought him Here Be Monsters, the first book in the Ratbridge Chronicles, and he could not put it down. It is filled with hundreds of author drawings and anecdotes. He read it over and over and subsequently tackled the Harry Potter books. The intricasies of these books and lively story line kept him enthrallled. He waited years for the sequel to come out!Worse Things Happen at Sea, is the continuation of the storyline found in Here Be Monsters with lots of new characters and adventures. It's filled with pirates, poison, monsters, and cheese including loads of fabulous illustrations. When this book finally came out, I ordered it for my now teenaged son and he devoured it, even rereading the first book again! I highly recommend this book to parents who have a difficult time getting their young sons to read. Don't be surprised when they ask you for the first book in the series.

Read it with my 6yo daughter, great fun! We were quite happy to find there was a sequel (and more!) after reading Mr.Snow's first book in the Ratbridge Chronicles; Here Be Monsters! Both were entertaining and funny for both my 6yo and her old dad.I stumbled upon the book not long after seeing the movie Boxtrolls which was also quite nice.Highly recommended.

The clever drawings! Storyline is not hard to follow but would be great to read to kids (I am guessing). I was curious about the Boxtrolls what with the recent film (which I did not see).

This sequel doesn't disappoint. More crazy characters, plenty of your old favorites, and lots of adventure! A fun young adult read.

very good reading for young (early teen or pre-teens) I bought this to preview for children, it is the second book of the Box Trolls. It moves into a new adventure, easy reading and can be done in small segments (short chapters) would also make a nice before bed time read.

My 9 year old son enjoys this book. When asked, all I can get out of him is "good". He's reading a book rather than playing on his iPad so that's a sign of a great book.
