Yup! she wants a divorce. When Brandon finds out what she has done she knows there will be no forgiveness.Poor guy! Brandon does not know how to express his feelings for his wife, Jana. Again, childhood issues kept him from claiming his wife after she left him.Now they both will be paying the price of miscommunication. Or no communication. The one spot they both enjoyed in their marriage was the marriage bed.Brandon was determined to control his emotions and life that he blew the security of his marriage. He was certain that he had to inform his wife on her duties and obligations. [forgetting his own - I think]Jana was [almost] determined not to be regulated to the background of their lives, being important only in the marriage bed.Ah, but she kept making mistakes in trying to force a divorce. In trying to force Brandon into a divorce she starts a small female revolution which endangers Brandon's business and his friendships, especially with Noah and just about gets thrown out of their house.Excellent plot - silly business for a 21 year old wife but - she tries.Definitely Recommended

In 1897 Los Angeles businessman Brandon Sayer is elated when he reads the telegram that his wife Jana was coming home after leaving him without notice one year two months and six days ago. They were married for three months when she just left to return home to her Aunt Maureen, who had raised Jana as her own daughter after the child's parents' died.Brandon thinks she has come home to do her duty as his wife, but Jana states she wants a divorce. Brandon persuades her that she should give him a month to try to make their marriage work. However, she also makes it clear they will not have sex during the trial period; what she fails to tell him is that he is a father. She expects nothing has changed as he did not even know she left him for two days and he starts the same way on their first night of a second chance by coming home from business very late; still she hopes because she loves him. As he tries to make amends, someone sabotages his latest business venture making it even more difficult for Brandon to spend time with the woman he loves. This enjoyable historical romance showcases the influence of nurturing on a person as Brandon is a chip off the old block, acting to his wife just like his father does to his mother (Harry Chapin's Cat in the Cradle). The story line is character driven as the intrigue actually enhances the insight into how each member of the lead duo respectively sees the world. Judith Stacy furbishes a fantastic late nineteenth century Americana tale.Harriet Klausner

The One Month Marriageby: Judith StacyReviewer: Pamela Ackerson (author- Home of the Braves trilogy)The One Month Marriage was written with humor, sensitivity and style. The main characters, Brandon and Jana, find themselves attempting to rejuvenate their troubled marriage. The conflict plays a wonderful game as she continues to want a divorce and he wants the marriage to continue as it was before--exactly as it was before. Ms. Stacy has the characters believable, to the point of relating to who these people are. Jana is stubborn in her resolve to divorce Brandon, and Brandon awakening in such a subtle way that you are cheering for him to succeed. Good story, the kind that makes you smile.

This is a sweet tale of love had, love gone and love found again. The recognition of mistakes made is not always easy to see but the lessons learned is what counts. Brandon Sayer is the type of man you can't help but fall in love with and Jana Sayer is a gal you can't help but like, despite some of her faulty decisions.ONE MONTH MARRIAGE is a fun, quick and easy read! This book is loosely connected to Ms. Stacy's MARRIED AT MIDNIGHT BOOK. Don't pass it up!
