You have to take this admittedly entertaining memoir with a grain of salt. Did Ms. Parker have two of the worst parents ever, or is she just another entitled, jealous Christina Crawford type? Probably a combination of both, as it is well-known that most self-absorbed movie stars are monsters. MacLaine wouldn't be the first actress to put career ahead of children -- Ingrid Bergman comes to mind, and many others. That said, it seems incredible to me that Parker would want her children to have any kind of relationship with her late father when she describes him as being a creepy borderline pedophile who squeezes his own daughter's buttocks while dancing. So don't believe everything you read, but it is a good read nonetheless.

I stumbled upon this book, if I could give it zero stars - I would. Yet another book written, but without substance or truth, nor is her father around to defend himself. Sachi Parker, from a very young age was known as an old soul, who made the decision to live with her father due to their strong bond since her birth. She may have had to fly to be with him, which was without her Mother Shirley, but, she failed to mention that it was a private jet, with security, private pilot and nannies. Also, she stated how she was deprived of money, yet the payments her Mother made every month to keep her daughter in a lavish life were astronomical! Sachi obviously wanted "help" from her Mother to be an international actress, just as her Mother was. If a wannabe star wants fame, even with famous actor parent(s) they must still prove their own worth and work their way up. This book has far too many inconsistencies and fabrications to be seen as truth. It is simply a woman, now in her fifties, who tried to make a quick buck by slating her Mother who just happens to be a famous actress and dancer, who's fame has spanned decades! We are all here to learn karmic lessons, this lady obviously hasn't learned any. Tatum O'Neal did the same with her own father Ryan. At some point, a person must take stock of their own lives, and stop passing blame. This lady is obviously bitter and looking for blame. Her lack of funds certainly didn't stop her having multiple face lifts and breast enhancement. This book is not based on real truth, but fiction and jealousy. This is not the way to reconcile with a mother. I didn't even finish the book, a total waste of money.
