    Book details

Iron Men in Blue is about policemen. What they feel, what they think, why they act the way they do. I used the actual experiences that occurred to me to who what police work is about. I’m trying to educate the public so that they will have a better understanding of police work and the men and women that make up the police department.

Arthur Cesare was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, the place he calls “the greatest city in the world.” For 21 years, he was a member of the New York Police Department in many different precincts and many different divisions. After retiring from the NYPD, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. There he worked for the Imperial Palace Casino, first as a security guard, then promoted to Chief of Security. After twelve years, he retired again and writing became his passion. All of his books are based on his own experiences while working for the NYPD.

Review Text

Art Cesare served w the NYPD as a patrol officer, narcotics investigator, investigations coordinator, and patrol supervisor from 1955-1976. These were some of the most turbulent, divisive years in the history of the NYPD. He shares a variety of experiences-not in chronological format- but designed to provide a snapshot of NYC policing. Most interesting is his account of the shooting of now legendary Detective Frank Serpico. It is a different perspective and may cause the reader to re-evaluate the Peter Mass book and follow on movie. Of note, Cesare was promoted twice after the Serpico shooting. Not polished but written from the heart.
