This book is a good read for fans of the A-1. The book was originally printed in 1989, but the information and pilot stories are accurate and interesting. I had hoped for more information on the design and construction of the aircraft, but this book definitely has adequate detail for the interested reader. There is an excellent development history of the A-1, mentioning the other prototype and production contenders up through the Martin XBTM-1 Mauler. If you are interested in the history of the A2D-1 Skyshark - you will have to look elsewhere as there are only a few sentences discussing that aircraft. If you are looking for rare photographs of the A-1, this book has plenty, covering all the variants. The A-1 was a beast; I had to see it in person, and found one on the deck of the USS Midway in San Diego. I was in awe at both its size and curb appeal. The historical significance of the Skyraider can never be underestimated or ever forgotten. We all owe a debt of gratitude for the men who flew it in combat, both in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
